Do you enjoy your science lessons at school? If you do then becoming a scientist is an option for you, which you might really enjoy. It means you have to work hard at school and university to get the right qualifications, but it is all worth it in the end. I really enjoyed science at school but being a scientist is better as you get to follow what you are interested in, ask questions and design experiments to answer them. There isn’t as much fact learning as in school as often you are working on an area that people don’t know what is going on (yet!). It is a lot of fun as well, a lot of science can be kind of playing around with experiments to see what shows something interesting, which can be really exciting.
But the most important advice I can offer is do what you are passionate about; it is only a great career for the people that enjoy the work they are doing!

You should consider becoming a scientist if you enjoy science. Do you find your science lessons at school interesting? Becoming a scientist takes a lot of time and hard work but if you enjoy science then it’s worth it. I really liked science when I was at school and I’m pleased that I got the opportunity to study chemistry at university. I love working as a scientist in the lab now because I get much more freedom to design my own experiments and investigations. This makes work fun as I’m doing things no one else has done before 🙂
