      I don’t know any mad scientists. I know some academics who might be a little excitble, but no more so than engineers, or any other discipline. I’ve never met anyone who wanted to strap big lasers to the heads of sharks, at least, nobody who has told me so…

      I don’t know any mad scientists either.

      There are plenty of great scientists who have a spark of creativity, which may seem mad at the time, but this is how real advances in science are made. For example Charles Darwin, who came up with the theory of evolution, was thought by many at the time as completely mad! (“Humans evolved from apes?!”) He is widely respected by scientists now for his theories, which are fundamental for Biology, although some people believe his ideas go against their religion. Neither view can ever be proved absolutely!

      I wouldn’t say that I am a mad scientist, a little crazy sometimes but not mad! I can honestly say that I’ve never met a mad scientist, although a few of my supervisors ideas have seemed a bit mad in the past!
