I wouldn’t say that I’m ever bored doing my job. Every day is so varied and busy that I really don’t get the time to be bored! It’s great working in a lab with lots of other scientists, many of which are doing research very different from my own. There is always something new to discover and I’d say that I learn something new everyday.

I feel the same way as Lindy – no two days are ever the same so it’s impossible to get bored!

I do, but I think this is really common in all jobs! The great thing about a science career is it can give you a lot of flexibilty with how you plan your day, depending on the lab you work in. I change the time I come in every day and change what work I’m doing depending on how I’m feeling. I can work really hard when I feel like it, but I do have the flexibilty to not have to do that all the time. In the end if I don’t work, it’s bad for me, so you self-motivate yourself to keep going. When it’s going well it is a great job, and its all your own work and you get a real sense of achievement.

I don’t get bored doing my job as I find it very interesting as no two days are the same. When I do get bored is when I have to sit in meetings or read really bad bits of coursework that someone has stolen from the internet! I tend to think of many meetings as being ways of listening to other people talk about doing work as away of avoiding doing anything at all. Meetings really are dull…unless they are about research and with research students, then they are interesting as something useful can come out of them.

      Avoid meetings!
